Elisabet Barnes is the author of the ultra running blog. She is perhaps the world's best female desert runner. Elisabet has won the gruelling 250km Marathon des Sables twice, and won or been on the podium in other similar extreme races in deserts all over the world. She has also succeeded in races in other challenging environments such as the Coastal Challenge in the rain forests of Costa Rica, and the 6-day Everest Trail Race in the high mountains of the Himalayas.
Elisabet is Swedish and resides in Norway with her husband Sondre Amdahl, a Norwegian ultra runner. Together they have taken on their own extremes adventures such as fast-hiking to Everest Base Camp in a fraction of the time it normally takes; fast-hiking the Three Passes Trek in Nepal crossing three passes above 5000m altitude; and running the 440km "Kungsleden" in Swedish Lapland in six days.
Elisabet and Sondre organises Trail running camps on Gran Canaria and are both ultra running coaches. Elisabet is also a sexologist and couples therapist. Read more about that on her other website.
